Combo Cups Question
«
on:
July 15, 2008, 07:48:15 PM »
Hi All,
I suppose this is a good of place then any to ask this question… What books or DVDs have the best routines for Combo Cups? All I have are the basic instructions that came with my old Combo Cups and the Vernon Cup Routine (it was recommended in the instructions to get the Vernon book. And in the instructions it skips between it and the Vernon book). I have already posted that I am more proficient with a Chop Cup. Would you recommend that I learn a straight Cups and Balls routine or go right into a Combo Cup routine?
Thanks,
Bruce

This is my favorite combo cups routine.

But Mendoza's routine is the most popular.

I'd ask Rannie, I think he's working on his own routine.

I strongly suggest that you get the Mendoza manuscript. John was very nice to allow me to teach the Mendoza Method in conjunction with my handling and my presentation. You can't go wrong with Mendoza's technique/method. You will learn a great deal about choreography. I do have an updated 'The Boss World's Famous Cups and Balls Routine" (John gave me the blessings to call it that) which I will film and post as soon as I have some ball issues fixed.

Rannie,
I had no doubt you had a combo routine. I just try to never tip anything about what another magician does or doesn't use for technique/tools. I figured if you wanted to fess up to being a combo kind guy, that was your call.
I think you could fill three DVDs with cups and balls stuff. Hey, why don't you do all that work and send me free copies???

Thanks Kent! Never felt like anything was being tipped. After all its just you , me and Geoffrey around here. Well...Sean too.
Funny you should mention a DVD. John gave me his blessings and I am ready to share 3 little pigs and my Scavenger's Cups which has some interesting moves and set ups. I do have a chop cup routine that I will include. Been doing my chop routine for ages but never got it on film. I think I am ready now.

Rannie, I have seen your C&B routines.
That just makes me want to see the chop cup routine all the sooner.
Great work, thank you for sharing it.

Rannie,
I am glad that I was thought of as (Too...)
To tell all of you the truth we have added more members this month then we have in a long time. So, know you are not alone here. We just have to wait a little to get them to feel comfortable to talk about their ideas.
We have some new changes coming down the road that I will hope make people to join in the fun that CupsCon.com was intended for.
Thanks again for all the great post, keep it up.

Just like to share my method of developing my cups routines.
First I would work out a one cup routine. Then another one cup routine which is the chop cup. After that I go to the two cup routine and followed by a 2 cups combo routine. Finally the three cups routine followed by the 3 cups combo routine. In total I have 6 different routines, at least.
This would help me cover all angles on cups and balls. If there is only one cup available, I have a routine ready. Or if I am offered 2 cups then there is something for it too.
This method helps me cover all bases (techniques, etc) on cups and balls.
Just by playing around with the cups and balls, you will find something useful to work out a routine. Most importantly comfirm the technical moves for each routine. And of course ... practise, practise, practise.
The reason I work out that many routines is that no routines are suitable for all places and events. Certain places do not allow you to use certain moves or even lapping the balls ... these places need a different routine altogether.
When I first started performing the cups and balls and chop cup routine, I had only one routine and found it not suitable for many places. That is why I decided to develop different routines so I am ready for any event or places that may be challenging to perform magic in.
Just sharing my experience.

Thanks Jake…. I found the booklet at the bottom of the box under the packaging. The Cups are beautiful and feel fantastic. By far they are the nicest set of Cups that I own.
