Yesterday I took delivery of my chromium plated miniature Paul Fox cups. They're beautiful! They are a delight to handle and fit so well in my hands. This is my first set of mini cups I've got, and I'm surprised at how little adjustment I'm having to do between working with the bigger cups and these ones. Did anyone else find the adjustment easy, or a little more difficult? Any tips on switching between the two sizes? I'd be interested to hear...

Levity,

I had to adjust my loading technique for mini cups, this put me off minis a bit. I was okay with the finals but the tip-over move was hard for me when working with mini cups.

When I received the Mini Paul Fox cups in stainless from RNT II my whole opinion changed. Those cups are just great, they handle well, they have a nice weight, they take a fair sized final load and they look magnificent.

I found the adjustment quite easy with the PF's but it was harder with my other mini cups.
I have no real problems now but I had to practice to get used to mini cups.

That's good to know, Tom. Thanks for the post. These are the first set of minis I've got and, while I love them, I'm probably going to keep acquiring larger size from now on. Interesting what you wrote about the tip-over move...it's the one move that I had to re-compensate for with the minis more than any other move. It's amazing the difference in space and size down there between the mouth of the cup and the table-top...

Geoffrey,

I kept 'missing' the cup mouth when doing the tip-over move. It took a fair amount of practice before I could hit the target every time.

I know that this thread isn't new but I wanted to ask you how you are getting along with the mini Fox's.

BTW, those chromed ones of yours look wonderful. I saw them at the RNT II website.
Beautiful work from Jake and the gang.

Hi Tom,

It was the same for me. I had to really rework the tipover, it's a lot different than doing it with standard sizes. At first I found it devilishly hard, but I kept on at it. Now I'm getting better with that move. I have thin hands, so in many ways the smaller cups and the smaller balls are simpler (but not always--it's amazing how a 1" ball can feel right at home in any of the three main palming moves). What I like about having the different sizes of the cups is being able to move between them...sometimes I want to work with the minis, sometimes the standards and soon, when I get them, my tall traditionals...I'm devising (or trying to devise) my own routines and I want to adapt them to all the different sizes.

Best,

Geoffrey

Oh, yeah, those chrome mini Paul Foxes are gorgeous. Sometimes I just hold them and turn them and dream... Wink

Geoffrey,

I believe we all have to make a lot of adjustments with different cups sizes. Personally I would rather work out different routines with different cups. That way I get to work with all the cups I have. In addition to that I get to be more proficient with cups and balls generally. Instead of working out the same routine with different cups, having different routines with different cups makes our learning quest more interesting and enjoyable. Each cup has its own strength or advantages and I really take advantage of these strengths for each routine.

I also find that there are certain places certain cups could not be used. That is why I work out different routines for different venues, different occasions, etc. Like the Foxys cups I use them for Valentines, or any occasions with ladies. They are cute to look at and ladies like that. These cups look intimately comfortable and with that advantage I play up the balls as the main stars for the routine. Imagine having 6 colorful final loads with those minis - they are a delight to watch.

Just my thoughts.
