Hello everyone,

I hope this post finds you well and in the mode for talking about cups.

I don't know how you store your cups but I would like to hearing your ideas on the subject. Now, I know that a lot of us keep your cups on display, but how do you store them?

What I am talking about the way you store them to and from a show or if you have no more to display them.

Do you keep them in the bags they came in??    What if you got cups without a bag?

With all that in mind. I wanted to share my idea with you. When i got my first set of real cups they did come with a bag, but I was alway afraid I would drop the bag and hurt the cups. I tend to think Cups as works of art, and because of that I did not want to hurt them in any way.

So, i was reading an old post on TMC where it talk about a well know magician (I don't remember the name right now) stored his cups in camera lens cases.

I thought that was a great idea. So, I went to one of the big camera shops in town, and asked about lens cases. I was able to find an old used hard case that my new cups would fit in. I have kept them in there ever scenes then. It has protected my cups to this day the only dings on the cups belong to my use of the cups.

It has been harder to find the old hard cases, but i have found the newer soft cases work great too. So, give it some thought and try out a lens case to store your cups.

Best cupping to everyone.

I only store mine if I'm transporting them. Otherwise they're on display on a bookshelf. I leave them unstacked in a sort of pyramid arrangement so air can circulate freely so they can "age" nicely. I take them down from time to time, practice with them, and put them back in a different order so the ones that have their mouths flat on the shelf have a chance to "breathe."

I store my cups....., actually display my cups in my magic den. The cups are displayed on a long table stacked. I re stack it twice a week so the patina are all even. I do have 30 sets and 6 chop cups to date thats why I have to stack them. I do store the balls elsewhere as well as the bags. For shows, I carry them in a wooden box my mentor made for me.

PS I did use a camera case (hard shell) padded especially for my old set for years. Most magicians I know who does serious cups and balls all keep them in a camera case. Coincidence? I don't know.

I store my cups on bookshelves, in front of the books, in the library room. That way they're on display and I can see them while I'm sitting down (if I'm not working with them) and they can patinate nicely.

When I take a set of cups anywhere, I use a small bag. Yesterday I received two bags from this place (below) in England: the standard 6"x9" cloth bag and the 'Moon and Stars' tarot bag! The latter is well-made and looks fun but in a classy sort of way. They have lots more bags on the page below. These are an inexpensive way of protecting my working cups and I think I'll be ordering some more.

Thanks for the link, there are some cool bags there. The Ambitious Card also has some great bags and cases. I have been making individual display boxes for my cups.

All take care,
