I received my set (#52) today. They surprised me. The weight was heavier than I thought it would be for their size. I really like the wand, feels comfortable in the hand, again also heavier than I thought it would be. Love the bag, love the picture of Bill infront of his cups.

All in all, a very nice surprising set. I do need to get a set of balls for these babies. I am not into puff balls.

The Monti Mini cups can't really be spun out of anything thicker than .032" and to my knowledge they have always been spun from .032". If you try to go any thicker, the cups stick and it's just not practical.
But, I don't know... maybe some RNT spinner of the past made them lighter... the curator of the C&B Museum would know for sure.

You really want to use a ball that is no more than 1/2" diameter with these cups. I haven't tried to get a knit jacket crocheted around a 3/8" wood ball to make the 1/2" balls - I hear that they just don't come out good, and look like little knots.

Thanks Bri,

I just got a bad case of the fever and needed a fix. But what you get for your money is absolutly worth it, I believe it is worth even more so you get a great deal. I already like the set and I haven't played with it. Just hold it and made some spins with the wand, which takes some getting used to.
If I get some time on saturday I will shoot some and post them.

Donnie,

On the museum page it says :

They are made of a heavier gauge of copper than the earlier ones.

But I don't know what thickness it is. They just feel nice. You did a nice job Donnie.

Etienne… We all know the fever and that monkey is a strong one. Yes with all the goodies that Mr Palmer includes and the craftsmanship of the RNT2 Cups, the Museum Cups are a great deal.

I understand why the puff balls are included, but once you find some other balls to use with them, you will like them even more.

Etienne,

Thanks for sharing those pics.  I have to confess that mine have arrived now, I took the pic and certificate in for framing.  They are wonderfully weighty for smaller cups, don't you think?

I think it's nice to have a little RNT history with the balls too Smiley

Bri,

Like I said, they feel heavier than expected sizewise(?). But I like 'em. What number do you have? I will be framing the pic and the certificate myself when I have the chance.

And that is were it ends. After playing around with the set I found that the fuzzy balls are good for display but won't work for me in a routine.

So I went on a hunt to find the perfect balls for these cups. Actually I didn't have to look very far. They were in my own magic case.

From top to bottom they are
19 mill. (3/4")
24 mill. (1")
38 mill. (1 1/2")
50 mill. (2")

Here are the 19 mill. working balls. They won't do a three ball display, but that doesn't matter. It wasn't my intention to do a display.

Here are the 38 mill. load balls. These fit perfectly.

Now I only have to find out how the Gertner routine functions. Undecided

Etienne,

Are the balls easy to handle? Or are they too heavy?

Tom,

The smaller ones are easy to handle, the big ones are heavy. And I mean HEAVY.

A website was brought to my attention which also has a big final load for the regular cups but the balls are hollow, that should cut down on the weight issue.

P.S. I am thinking about getting Lou Serrano's routine in conjunction with the cups and steel balls. Any tips on that routine?

Etienne… all I can think of is if you drop one of those and it lands just right (or wrong) as the case may be.
