What are we missing??

As most of you know things here at CupsCon.com has slowed down some.
We are growing in members but shrinking in postings. Is this a problem?? I am starting to think so.
What are we not doing here at CupsCon.com to make it a place for the fans of Cups (and the Cup family) to talk about the trick(s) they love.
Is it that there are just too many places we can go to talk about cups?
Is it because we pushed the convention back a year to 2010?
The question has always been "If we build it will you come?" Well we have built a place for the fans of Cups. Then what are we missing?
So, this way I am asking of each of you. "What can we do here at CupsCon.com to make it better?"
You are welcome to post here, PM me, or email me at
sean@cupscon.com
I thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great day.

I do apologize I've not been around. Things have been really busy since the school year started. I'm working on time management and sometimes getting on-line gets shoved to the end of the line behind work, family, practicing, reading, etc. While on the surface that 's a good thing - more time spent living real life - but I do miss the interaction with fellow cupfreaks.

Sean,
I am glad you asked these questions, because I do enjoy CupsCon and want to see it come to life. I too am puzzled as to why it is in the state that it is in. Maybe it really does take awhile for something like this to catch on.
I wasn’t around when The Magic Café started, but as I discovered it and went back through all its beginning postings it seems that it took a good year for it to get going. I spent probably 6 months as a lurker before I joined The Magic Café early this year.
I have noticed that your presence has been a little lapse, might I suggest that you take more of a leadership role. I think with some direction the ball will start rolling. I have done my best to be active and start new topics where I can. I am not new to magic but relatively new to Cups, therefore the best I can offer at the moment are my few reviews of Cups, encouragement to others, yes that is a cool cup (type of comments) and yes that I sleep with Cups.
You are correct that there are many other places to discuss all that is Cups and my hopes were that CupsCon would offer some different offerings. I was hoping others would share more about their Cup collections (boy how I love looking at pictures of Cups), I wanted to hear more from the hardcore Cupsters (I am appreciative of those that have shared such as Rannie, Tom and James) to become a better Cup performer and I wanted to know more about the Cups themselves… their histories, how they were designed and how they are made. I was so hoping that the RNT2 section would provide this information.
The CupsCon Convention would have been great, but I don’t think that not having it right away has slowed things down. Even if the first CupsCon is not as grand as you want it to be I plan to attend. I would be even happy to meet any of our members for a non-organized gathering. There are many members here that I consider friends and have enjoyed PMing.
Ok… so what would I do if this was my site…
Maybe some more defined posting categories..
Encourage those members that are more tech savvy then me to offer teaching videos (secret section).
Have more Cup pictures.
Ally with more magic collectors to share their collections with us and provide historical information.
Review sections.
Encourage sponsoring vendors to share how their products are made.
Maybe have small informal regional get togethers.
I am first to admit that I don’t have all the answers and thank you for asking the questions and I feel that you sincerely want the answers. Thank you for starting CupsCon and wanting it to be something. I also want to thank all our members, as a group I enjoy your on-line company and friendship.
Best wishes to CupsCopn and to you all,
Bruce

Bruce,
Thank you for your comments. I have given me some great ideas. I realize I have been just watching the last few weeks. I wanted to see how things move without any pushing, but I see that was then right thing to do.
I like some of the things you suggested. Like the review section. That happens to be something I have been working on. To tell you the truth I was not sure of what to call it and how it needs to be broken down into groups.
As for:
"Ally with more magic collectors to share their collections with us and provide historical information."
I think that is a great Idea. So, if anyone is interested in doing this please let me know. Maybe Bill P. and/or Pete B. might want to shed on that subject for us.
"Have more Cup pictures."
That sounds like a great idea. I will see what I can do about making a special place for people to post them.
"Maybe some more defined posting categories."
I am open to suggestions.
"Maybe have small informal regional get together."
Let me think on how to do that.
I am hoping that more of us will have an idea or two. So, Cup Junkies keep the ideas coming.
Thanks again.

Just because we pushed the CupsCon date back to 2010 doesn't mean we should be taking a break from planning this thing. Along with conflicts with FISM and others, it seems we just didn't have time to get it all together for 2009. We can't wait until this time next year to get started for 2010.
Any updates or tasks for the 2010 CupsCon that we can help out with?

I have not had any luck finding out when the 2010 IBM and/or SAM cons are to be held.
When we get that info wee can start looking at dates for CupsCon.
I know there has to other cons that year. So, I want to make sure we have good dates that does not over lap.
Thanks everyone.

I think the dates we had for 2009 were pretty good. They missed all the major conventions, and we won't have FISM interfering this time. IBM and SAM have traditionally been on or around the July 4th weekend, one right after the other.
