I'm wondering how many cups junkies out there also know about the Golden Section, Phi, and its relationship to artistry and design?

Anyway, is there a cup out there that pays more tribute to the Phi/phi proportion than others?  If so, is it considered to be more asthetically pleasing?

How's the functionality of that cup?

Is the Phi ratio pertaining to cup height and width?  Bead placement? Mouth opening to saddle opening?

I'd love to know if Brent Sherwood incorporated the use of Phi in his cup design!!!

Here's a plethora of Phi info for those that are completely lost by my post  Wink

I have 2 stage names:

Chad Ballyhoo

&

KOPHI (Keeper of PHI)

Obviously I'm a tad passionate about the Golden Cut..er..Number...um..Ratio...oh, never mind.  I never know quite what to call it  Roll Eyes

I think the "Tall Animal Cups" come very close to the golden ratio using height v. diameter near the middle as the two factors.

I don't think it makes one bit of difference in the effectiveness of the cups. The cups really aren't the star in the routine anyway, the balls are.

A good question would be how does this ratio co-operate with some of the agronomic principles of cup design? Can they exist within the same cup?

Please don't take this as being sarcastic. Are you sure you don't mean ergonomic?
Agronomic has to do with farming.

Both, I think flower pots as cups are the answer.

Most likely a typo that made sense at the time. I'll try to send you an apology card that conveys the proper sediment.

I think it was your fertile mind that caused that particular slip.

Mine are close to it. That's because its one of the things I became fascinated with whilst doing my fine art degree. I studied sculpture. Personally the sherwoods look a little odd to my eye. That said they are different so top marks for that. I'm just a tad unhappy with the separation between the beads . I think cellini look good. Risers are the best spun but on bead is not to pleasing to look at.

Now, I have been is love with the look of the RNT II Foxy 2.5 cups. There is something about the three ring spacing on the cup that gives it the right shape of the cups.

They have the right feel to them too. They are not to big, but just fat enough to give you that perfect curved palm feel to them.

The effect of the tennis ball load to the shape of the cup. Makes for a great shock factor. People just can not believe that ball came out of that cup.

I have never tried to use them for street preforming, but they play great for close up, parties, est..

Now, Gary I have yet to own a set of your cups, but all in due time. I have always love the look of your cups. I always thought of them as the prefect road warrior cup. I will get my hands on one of your cups some day.  Only then I can compare your cups to the Foxys.

Yup, new here.
This was the first thread I read. Hey, Gary! I've got two sets of your cups...love em! I was just fascinated about the art school/sculpture thing. I also took sculpture as well. Did you do a lot of bronze casting?

I'm a carver too.  Mostly wood spirits on walking sticks.  Some snowmen on wooden spoons...odd crafty things, yes...but it's my way of keeping with americana.

My KOPHI Tables are in the proportion of PHI.
