Around the end of August I ordered the Mendoza Combo cups and balls set.  They arrived about 6 weeks later.  I am very pleased with them. The working balls that came with them were a little large for my liking.  So I ordered another set of 5 working balls that were smaller.  This was October 3, 2008.  November 6, 2008 I inquired when the balls would be finished and shipped to me.  I was told that they would be sent out the next day.  November 21, 2008 I inquired again and got no answer.  November 27, 2008 I asked for a refund.  December 1, 2008 received 4 of the 5 balls that I had ordered.  They had been sent out on the 29th of November.

During this time the price of the balls have come down and so has the price of the Mendoza Combo set.

My question is, Am I wrong for asking for the fifth ball and the difference between the old and new price.  And free shipping for the fifth ball.   I figure that since I got the Mendoza cups over 2 months ago it wouldn't be right for me to ask for the difference in price.  That would be $150.00 that I sure could use.
As it stands right now, RNT2 has a very unhappy customer, not with the cups but with the poor service and the price change and the ads that say that they are ready to be shipped.  It seem like they tried to cover that up or thought that I wouldn't notice.

Am I wrong for wanting my order completed and the price difference refunded to me?

I hope I haven't broken any rules and that this post does not get deleted like it did at TMC.

As far as I know, RNT2's pricing closely follows the cost of the raw material. At the time your cups were made, prices were higher. Copper prices went down, so they lowered their prices. It wouldn't be very good business to lower the price on something that has already been made at the higher material cost.

It would be nice if the world worked that way. I'd ask the gas companies to rebate all that money I spent over the years when gas was under a dollar.

You are right to ask for what you paid for though. I know emails are easily missed with them, and although I prefer it as I have a virtual "receipt" and a log when I wrote it, you might get better results by phone. Epiphany is splitting her time between school and the shop, and Jake is pretty much out of the loop completely. You might try calling his other daughter Marcella  (757) 414-0354

I'd try calling about the missing ball. I sent an email to RNT2 on Saturday morning, and got a call back from Jake within 20 minutes and he's always answered the phone when I called in the past...
I'm sure he will send the missing ball out to you if you let them know. He's done it for me, no questions asked. I had a similar problem when I ordered the Mendoza Combo Cups - 4 regular balls were included, but no gaffed ball. I sent an email, got a reply back, and Jake and company sent it out right away.

I just have seen the following message at RnT2:

Quote

Yes the news is sad… I will be toasting RNT2 at the end of the year from my favorite Cup (YTD). I am glad that they hung in there as long as they have and wish Jake and his family the best.

Are you f***ing serious?!? I saw this on RNT2 as well. I REALLY wanted to get a set of those Super Shibby Street Cups and a set of those Foxy II.V's in Antique Bronze. I guess I never will be able to now.  Sad

I spoke to Jake this afternoon and he sounded in good spirits. He and his family are hustling to catch up on outstanding orders. Yes it is true… act fast on what is available.

I know Jake and I are not on talking terms. Nether the less RNT2 makes great stuff. The shibby cup (Gazzo 2) is a bargain at 200 dollars. Copper prices have dropped but not that much .since the sheet price is only a fraction of the labour and tooling costs. More bad news from my end ,I have slipped a disc and cannot spin at the moment. In fact I can't even do a card trick.

I'm grateful for this thread.  I placed an order in August.  I've been calling and emailing ever since trying to get my order filled.  In August, I place an order near 2,000 US$.  I still don't have all of the items.  One item I paid for in August was quite expensive (Mandarin Transformation in 14K).  It arrived this week, but is not 14K, the finish is uneven, and the disks are splotchy.  I've left repeated messages (including emailing Epiphany) that have been left unanswered.  I'd appreciate any advise?

Thank you for your response Eddie.  My apologies for the breach of etiquette.  Although I've visited the site many times, I am new to the CupsCon site.  Having visited different discussion areas at CupsCon, I noticed that different people posted in different areas and that there wasn't always a great deal of overlap.  Thus, the posts in other areas.  I guess also that my anxiety got the best of me.  I am into RNT2 nearly 2K and cannot raise them via email or phone.  From posts in this area and others, I see now that other people are in a similar situation.  Although it pains me, I'm trying to prepare myself for the loss of my hard earned cash.

Scott,
You just have to keep the faith man. Instead of your current mind set, think how great it is going to be when your box from RNT2 arrives.

Best wishes,
Bruce
