I have worked on my cups and ball set for a while and I have come up with what to me is a very original routine. The routine uses only one cup and a lot of sponge balls and a change bag.

Two balls are displayed on the table along with a cup. The cup is show empty and handed out for inspection. THe performer puts the cup on the table and picks up one of the two sponge balls. The sponge ball vanishes and repears under the cup. This is repeated another time.

One sponge ball is split into two balls, leaving three sponges visible. The three sponges are put into a bag where they vanish. The magician waves his hand over the bag and pulls out 8 red sponge balls and four green sponges.  The performer performs a sponge ball matrix with four of the sponges.

This routine in my opinion is unique, does anyone have any suggestiongs of making this better?

Hey Jordan,

Welcome to the cup place!

As far as your routine, it sounds to me like a spongeball routine and not so much a cups and balls routine. You may as well take the cup out and do it in the spectators hand, it'd get better results.

There's plenty of material out there that use spongeballs for the balls in a cup routine which can really help you if what you really want to do is develop something with cups and sponges.

That's something I can think about. The whole original point of making this routine was to figure out how effective it would be to combine two routines. I choose sponge balls because its a shocker to most who know Cups and Balls, who would have guessed Sponges being use? Its a work in progress.

Jordan,

If you want a great routine with cups and spongeball, take a look at Johnny Paul's routine on the Stevens C&B Teach-In DVD/video.

It's a killer and hardly anyone does it!

Best of luck with your routine, it's nice to see someone thinking 'new'.
