How do you load the steel ball bearings without them talking? Paul Gertner has a fabulous routine using steel ball bearings and steel loads. Has he ever released any material on the cups and balls?
-Astro (does that name sound stupid? I'm trying to come up with a "busking" name. I wanted a 5 letter word and something that interested me: Astronomy (Astrophysics, aerospace engineering, cosmology, etc.) So the name "Astro" came to mind (Actually, "Cosmo" came first, but you can see where that would be a problem.))

Mike, I saw a YouTube video where he uses the noise of the steel balls to his advantage. He
makes
them talk!
Astro could work. However, it reminds me of this guy from the '60s:
Nothing up his sleeves, and no pockets! Yikes!

Paul has a book called "steel and silver book" and on "Steel and silver Vol.2" dvd is also a section dedicated to the cups and balls. Both items are on my wishlist.

P.S. I like Cosmo better than Astro

Yeah I know. There is already a Kozmo though.
I guess the name hunt's still on. My name's Mike Heins, any suggestions?

Tom, thanks for the picture, I sure as hell don't want to be associated with that.
Also, I was weird with my wording (it seems like that always happens when I talk to you
) Paul Gertner uses the steel balls to make noise as an advantage in his routine, but does not talk with the loads is what I meant.
How's your routine coming along? I want to see it sometime.

I believe that there is a thread on TMC that goes indepth on this. Someone gave me the advise to line the cups with felt. This would/should reduce the talking. When viewing the routine of Paul on YouTube you can see that the cups aren't lined with felt. So..one more brain buster for me, or I will stop thinking about it and some day buy the book or dvd. This is my first time with steel ball bearings, so I have to look how all will go.

Mike, I still like your idea of astronomy and some of those names. Check out this website for the names in the Solar System. Some of them look pretty good.

As far as Paul Gertner goes, it shows you I don't know what I'm talking about!!
My routine is coming along. I have to stop taking every idea I get watching YouTube, and settle down to one routine. But it's fun. That's what counts.

Mike… I actually like your real name Hines. To me it works as a single name as Bono, Sting, etc. (notice I did not say Cher, can’t stand her).

Etienne, I might just have to pick up that DVD to see. Paul's stuff seems great
Tom, I think that you're very knowledgeable. You were right before, my wording was just off, but you were correct about using the balls talking as an advantage. I look forward to seeing what you put together. Don't worry about Youtube things, put together your routine, and then add more ideas to it. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Also, what's binary?
Bruce, thanks for the suggestion. My last name being Heins is why I created the name ketchup here, but ketchup doesn't sound like a good busking name to me. Do you think Heins would be a self-sufficient street name? I don't mind it. Thanks. Oh, by the way, I look forward to reviews of your new cups (if you feel like reviewing them) and the cups that you soon will get. God, I hope this CupsCon thing works out and I'm able to attend. I'd love to meet all of you guys.

Thanks for the compliment, Mike.
Binary is a number system based on two digits, 0 and 1, instead of the ten digit system (0 to 9) we use everyday. So, in binary, the number 2 would be 10. That means there are really only 2 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.
I guess the computer guys use this a lot.

Mike…. Sorry about misspelling your name. I agree Ketchup would be bad, kind of like Carrot Top. Even if CupsCon doesn’t happen, if I am ever the direction of where you guys are I would certainly let you know. I plan on writing a review soon on the Phoenix Cups doing a comparison of the TF version and the RNT2 Cups. I am still waiting on a slew of Cups and I will certainly post pictures of them. Think about it… in a way when we post our Cup pictures we have created our own Cups and Balls archives for others to see.
Best to all,
Bruce

Bruce, don't worry about the name thing, it happens all the time. Thanks, too.
Tom,
All of this computer stuff is over my head. You explained it well, at least I understand the basis now.

Mike,
That's
ALL
I know about it. It just makes for a strange signature in a forum.
I figured this out on a measurement conversion site: One chop cup would be written as "1"
A set of three cups would be "11" Not eleven, but one one.
Now my head hurts....I'm going to go play with my cups!

Mike,
if you like Paul's routine than check this guy out I found on YouTube. Maybe you already have seen it but I would just like to share this.
I am catholic, but that is were it ends. I like this routine, just the patter isn't my style and will never be. But it works for him.
