A couple weeks ago I won a bid on eBay for Gazzo's book, Street Cups and Balls. It just arrived. It will be interesting to read. I'll probably never perform it for anyone other than the guy in the mirror. I get too heart-thumping nervous! Here I am, in 1986, trying to do my street act. I had more than three people in the audience, but not at that moment. Check out that busker's pouch!

You were like the stereotypical magician back then, weren't you?  Wink

"stereotypical magician." -- That's right!
I always liked the C&B, but where else could I perform? I couldn't show my family and friends AGAIN, they were falling asleep!

Thanks...
My wife made it. No idea what it's made out of, some kind of cloth. I had her sew on the star and moon, because one day I was doing the C&B while wearing black pants, and someone said it looked like I pulled the cups out of pants! My zipper? I don't know. So with the star and moon on it, at least I didn't look like a flasher pulling something out that shouldn't be pulled out; I was wearing a real pouch! Nothing up my sleeves and nothing in my pants!

That's not all that far-fetched. There is a note in Hocus Pocus, Junior that states:

Quote
Some I have seen sit with their Codpiece open, others play standing with a budget hanging before them, but all comes to one end. Some feats may with more grace be performed standing than sitting.

Well, I guess my Codpiece was open. But, if it's good enough for Hocus Pocus, Jr, it's good enough for me!

It's amazing how that line reads in contemporary English as compared to 17th century English.
