On James Riser's website, he said to apply some wax to the cups when the patina is where you want it. So, that's what I did. I polished the cups as well as I could, and then applied some car wax. Maybe I won't have to shine them as often. I know they'll change, but I want to keep them nice and shiny for now.

I used Nevr-Dull to shine them, and then carnauba wax like Jim recommended. Ready to go!

Tom, will you post some pictures of the Risers when you get a chance? I'm always dying to see any cup.  Cheesy

Thanks, Mike, here they are. I took these pix a couple days after they arrived. Now that I've waxed them, I'll have to see what it does. Waxing certainly helps my car, and this is a whole lot easier.

Tom…. I am like Mike; I want to see Cup pictures.
Wow those Riser Cups are beautiful; I would also keep those shiny if I had them.
I really like the shape of their saddle…. Again wow!

I had a set of risers that i used for a bit and then Gazzo got them and now that set is in the cup and ball  museum . It says used by Gazzo. I was hurt I did not get a mention. I used them too.  They are very nice cups indeed. But please take the wax of and let them get a patina and then wax them.

Thanks, Bruce. I like them a lot, too. I can fit three 1 1/8" balls up there, under another cup. They're the perfect weight for me. They don't blow over like my aluminum ones, but they're not jumbo size, so I don't pump up my biceps when I'm using them, either.

Thanks Gary. Too bad your name's not mentioned. You're up there with the famous guys!
So far, I like to keep them shiny, but I know what will happen. The wax will wear off, the cups will get a nice patina, and I won't want to work up a sweat shining them again. Same thing happened to my car. Wash it, wax it. Ooooh it looks nice. Do it again next weekend, and next, etc.....The heck with it.

Tom,
C&B is fun!

Tom…. My first set of real Cups was the original RNT Aluminum Combo Cups. When I was young and nervous, I would rock back and forth. At the time I had this magic table I made from an old TV table tray, I would always hit it and send the Cups falling down.

You mentioning the Cups blowing over just made me think of this. And now that that I think of it; the table cloth that I used had stars and a moon sewn onto it like your old buskers apron (your picture in another post).

Take care,
Bruce

Bruce -- You had me laughing! I guess everybody goes through the same thing. I've seen new guys on YouTube and in person, rocking back and forth. Nervous! Moon, stars, wizards --- it's all magic!

I will tell this story…. When I first started in magic (3rd Grade), I even had my mother make me a cape and I had a cardboard top hat (left over from New Years) along with a cheesy mustache that I drew on with a burnt cork.

I was “The Amazing Mysto”…. To some I still am.

Pretty much to a dead end; all of the sets are claimed by individual parties. No biggie. Since my collection (currently 1 set) is so small, I'm trying to compensate by acquiring rare sets.

You're collection is looking great Bruce. I noticed those Phoenix II cups you have. How do they compare in you opinion, to the TF Phoenix I cups? I love those mini Risers; the patina is beautiful! Also, those wood chop cups are amazing. How much were they? Thanks Bruce.

BTW, that wasn't a sarcastic wow. Gawd, I'm not that awful at all. It was a "wow... can't remember ever hearing anyone call themselves anything like that for a long time". Today kids who do magic call themselves little gothy names like Rameses Icethorn or Odysseus Nightwind or something.
