I ordered a set of Midnight Black balls from RNT2, and they arrived yesterday. Time to play!

So here's a pic of the black balls with my Riser cups. I like my Risers!

And here's a pic of the new balls with my re-painted Morriessy cups. If all three cups were the same color, they would look a little better. Probably my red balls are best, because of the difference in the color of the cups.

Like I've said before, C&B is fun.

Tom,

The black balls look great with your SHINY Riser Cups. I think that the kit would look good on a red working surface. Somewhere here I posted on how to make a close-up stage... check it out.

Thanks for sharing the pictures,

I like your balls Tom.  Grin

I never really cared for black balls, but those look pretty good with the shiny Riser's. Have you had to polish them ever since you put the wax on them!? They're holding up pretty well.

Bruce,

I remember the close-up stage you made. I'll find it! A red close up pad does sound good.

Mike,

I bought black ones as a change to having bright red ones flash once in a while. I haven't polished them since I waxed them. But even with the wax, they look like they are getting a little patina. I suppose my hands wears it off a little.

Maybe I'll shine 'em up tomorrow.

Oh no, here we go again.  Grin Grin Grin

I will have to say having Black balls makes a great change for a routine. I have black a gold balls, and they pop on a red mat.

(everyone seems to like your balls Tom.  Grin Grin Grin)

What about using a white ball with the black cup and the black balls with the white cups?

I'm glad everybody likes my balls. Wink I like my balls, too! Wink Wink Wink

The black balls are 1". I think they are 1 1/8 after they are crocheted. Not sure.

Using black and white balls is a good idea. Sort of like Kent Gunn does. It would be a challenge to work out a routine. Might be worth it.

Tom F., that's what I was going to say. I didn't know how he'd do that though.

I'll second the red working surface Smiley

Out of interest, how did you "key" the paint to your cups? Doesn't it flake off with use?

I toyed with taking my Morrisey cups to be powder coated a while back but i figured it would cost more than they are worth!

I had a bike frame done in clear and it wasn't cheap.

Mindyourmagic -- I just painted them a few days ago. I haven't really used them yet. I'm sure the paint will chip off after a while. All I did was use some sandpaper, then primer, then some spray paint. Powder coating would have been better, I'm sure. But too much $$$. Since we like to bang the cups around and hit them with a wand, bare metal is probably better.

You could have the balls 'going home' to their respective, coloured cups.

The white balls end up 'accidently' under the black cup, you cover them and...
...zoom, they're back under the white cups.

2 whites change into 2 blacks.

Balls change to black & white, 2 coloured balls, maybe stripes.

Final loads of black, white and two coloured balls.

Call it The Monochrome Cups and Balls.

In the UK, where we need TV licences, a Monochrome licence is cheaper than a colour licence.
If I were to do this routine, I'd say that I do it this way as the licence is cheaper!

I hope this stirs some ideas.

It does! I'll have to get a set of white balls and work on it. Thanks for the ideas. Amazing how many ideas we can come up with!

Thanks,

Perhaps it's my martial arts / buddhism influence but I thought of Yin and Yang and the balance of life...

My cups routine is based around something similar only I don't have black and white cups / balls...
