BTW, Sean:

I have been known to twist the latex from time to time.

I quit doing it when I stopped doing kid shows.

But I can still make Snoopy riding a unicycle and juggling three balls.

Here's a cups and balls update for the TAOM convention.

The following acts have been booked -- Michael Ammar, Bebel, Suzanne and Tallon and Gorman.

There will be an historical presentation similar to the one at the WMS. There are still reservations available both for the convention and the hotel, so if you aren't doing anything over the Labor Day weekend, consider coming to the TAOM convention

For more information go to http://www.TAOM2009.com

Well, the TAOM has come and gone. Bebel did not make it to the convention. He was hospitalized a couple of days before the convention, so Bill Malone stepped in. He was, of course, delightful.

Michael Ammar showed some of his new material. He did a fine lecture and amazed all of us. Suzanne the Magician did her cups and balls story routine, which was quite delightful.

I did my history of the cups lecture, followed by a Q & A session, which was topped off by Gorman and Tallon performing their "Duelling Cups and Balls" Routine.

After the convention was over several magicians came over to the museum to look at the cups.

Bill,

Sorry I missed your lecture at TAOM....I crawled into bed at 5:30 a.m., and did not get up until after check-out time and your lecture

....It was a great convention, BECAUSE OF GUYS LIKE YOU....I look forward to seeing you at our Austin auction in April 2010 and TAOM 2010.

TAOM 2010 will be in Austin and is already half booked.  We are limiting registrations to 500, so we can use the Austin City Limits studio....It should be great.

Am just joining this forum and am excited about it....I am specifically looking for CHOP CUP data for an upcoming workshop for our local IBM Ring....Any points to Chop Cup references on this web would be appreciated  (even though I do intend to read every word)....Also, if you have some good on-line links to the Chop Cup I would appreciate them (in an email, if you like)...

Keep on keeping......you do good work.....opie

Thanks man.....I need just general stuff to toss onto a handout on Chop Cups for a workshop.......I think I have enough from Lord Google and some other searches.....

The biggest problem with Chop Cups, as with many of our classics, is that there is too much "Look, watch, etc." and not enough entertaining routines.  Any entertaining patter suggestions would be appreciated....

I've turned a big chunk of the effects I do into gambling routines, or rather swindling demonstrations. Talk a little about the 3 shell game and then whip out the chup cup and do the 1 shell game. It's a very quick routine with just 3 phases but I find that my audiences get more into it than they would just some magic trick.
