I have a table that I use for busking. It's about 4' long and 2' wide. This sits on a keyboard stand and sets up about waist high. There is a wooden edge around the top that sits about 1/4" higher than the table to prevent the balls from rolling off. This setup is great for the street.

The problem lies if I'm on an elevated platform. Then people see, for the most part, the underside of the table along with the tops of the cups. The balls drop out of sight due to the edge of the table.

Anyone else ever run into this issue? I can't tilt the back of the table up because the balls will roll down. I'm thinking a smaller narrower table might work. Would like to hear from anyone else that ran into this.

Thanks,

That's a persistent problem for all platform workers. I can't really think of any one solution other than lowering your table as far as possible. Your pouch doesn't have to be below the table edge to be effective, assuming you use the Gazzo approach to loading without flashing.

That's a pretty big table too. Mine (in the avatar) is about 32x18 or so. You don't want it so big that the cups look small by comparison. Since the cups are typically in the middle, that's only 9 inches between the cups and the front of the table.

Another thing I've done (but I've never been on a platform) is to have no edge on my table (or a very tiny ledge, just enough to stop balls from falling off). I use Monkey Fist balls which aren't entirely round. They look round but due to the nature of the knot, it has corners so the ball doesn't roll very far before stopping. Maybe this could help.

Protect your balls, always use a cup.

Its a pretty crap stage routine. I'd done it many times and really it is not ideal. Okay if you set up a camera and screen otherwise do something else.
