Nice review! I'm glad Frank found someone to tie these. My hands just can't take it anymore. Leather is nice, although not practical for cleaning. The nylon wrap seems like a good alternative especially for hard use.

Frank, how strong are the chopped balls? M***s instead of shims, right? Will it hold through the wall of a cup with a PK ring?

Dave,
Thank you.  I remember seeing a post of yours at the big green place about the monkey fist balls you made.  If I remember they were a red leather and looked really nice....

Dave... Frank is great to work with. I ordered some balls to go with a Johnson chop Cup, at first there was a problem with the gaffed ball being too strong (one would have to slam the Cup), but Frank sent a replacement that works perfect!!!!!

Bri... they work perfect with a Hansen chop Cup.

Good luck,
Bruce

Thanks for remembering. Most people liked the red, but I also made white (in my avatar), blue, or pretty much any color they wanted at least until my source for leather dried up. Since I used large glass marbles for cores (I liked the added weight) I couldn't "chop" any of mine.

Bri, That was a nice review! Lots of details.

I just received a set of Monkey Balls in leather. They're easy to palm because the leather isn't slippery. And, they don't roll all over the place. There is friction against a cup if you're not careful. Just like any combination of different size cups or balls, you have to adjust your technique.

Frank was nice to work with. He promptly answered my email questions and I received the balls quickly.

I'm looking at getting someleather ones next Tom.  I should have also added that these were tied by Josh Riel.

Bri,

I don't know Josh Riel, but how did you find out who actually made them?

It's no secret for anyone who follows Monkey Fist discussions over at the Magic Cafe. Josh took over making them for Frank when my hands and supplies gave out. Josh found the nice colored nylon cord that works well for these. I tried but it just didn't work the same for me.
