My godchild who is 11 is really getting into magic. So, I am thinking about getting feet wet in the world of Cups and Balls.

I want to get her some nice cups other then the cheap plastic set, but where do you start?

A set that is not to heavy for her and not so light her dose not understand how to do some of the moves.

So, I bring this question to my fellow cup junkies. What is a good starting set for her? Huh?

I'd say a Morrisey aluminum set.
Particularly the small sized cups.

By the "cheap Plastic" sets I'm guessing that you mean the Tri-Colored sets like the ones that come with the Marshall Brodien Magic sets? If so, what about the larger chrome plated plastic ones? I've given them as gifts to a few kids at that age and they were well received.

How much do you want to spend? Fantasma has chrome plated plastic cups that look okay. Otherwise the Bazar de Magia's seem to be the best beginner choice for metal cups. High end? Jake still has some Mini Monti's left.

I have thought about the chrome plastic cups, but I really wanted to get a set of metal cups for her.

I thought about RNT II Mini Jester Cups in Polished Aluminum, but I am not sure about the size of the cups. For that matter or the size of the mini Monti cups.

Anyone know the size of the small Morrisey cups?

I can't answer that, but I can tell you the Mini Monti's stand just under 2" and are sized such that it's just a bit too small for a golf ball load. Great "pocket" cups.

I usually recommend the Bazar de Magia cups. I think they are a good value for the money.

Sean
email me your shipping address.  I'll send her a set of Pink Beauties, include her name and I'll laser engrave it on the wand with the date.

best,
