Richard Evens is the winner with his design for a traditional love cup. It has a wee curve after the top bead so they will not wobble as much as traditional cups usually do. It will be made in the next few months. Ten sets will be made initially  . Set number 1 goes to Mr Evens as a prize. The others will be sold to cover the costs. Set will be numbered 1 to 10. Richard Evens owns the design and after I have made the ten sets it will be up so Richard if any more are made and indeed who they are made by. The will be made in copper.
Richards' Drawing of the cup can be seen here .

What the hell, I sent those drawings to Mr. Evens in private. He must have sent them to you Gary for the contest. I'm not bitter I just want set #2. LOL. I must say those cups look nice. I like that it has the wee curve to it. Its not to dramatic like the Cellini cups. Very nice I cant wait to see them when they are complete and in my hands. Do you have an anticipated price yet.  Thanks for sharing

Cheers

Here is a link to the first prototype of Richard Evans cup. Its Ali. I made it to big thinking it should take a baseball. Apart from that it stacks very well and is a winner . All I have to do is now remake the chucks the right size and send one to Richard to check. It needs a few tiny changes in order to match his drawings .It is pretty close though. Any way take a look and please comment.

I'm chuffed to have won the competition - and those prototypes look fantastic  Grin

I love the traditional cup shape and hope that this will be a welcome variant on that style. The cups are based on Gary's previous cups with the signature chunky 2-bead shoulder. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle.

Richard,

I think they are winners too!  I really like the trad tops making the ball look really big but  I prefer smaller"rounded cups" and tennis ball loads...

I really like these cups! Congratulations!

I'm just making the chucks for tennis size ones . They will be ready for a test set around Monday. First set will be Ali and if i'm happy with them i'll send them to R E for his OK. Obviously Ali ones will not handle well but the shape and stake can be checked. I'm a bit slow but I've had a few gigs lately so slipped a tad behind.
I'll post the pics along the way

well the first test failed a bit so i'm redoing the chucks. I'm on holiday for the next week but hope to have a test set I am happy with to send to Richard really soon. i'm making a steel template of the profile so I get the shape right. One thing Richard " should the dent take three one inch balls . It may be a bit tight because of the taper.

Hi Everyone,
I've had a good morning on Richards cup. I redid the chucks and spun an Ali sample cup .I'm happy with it. I'll spin a second now to see how the stack. It stacks with the love cup so should be good. Will need a little tweaking I expect. This one is spun from 1.6mm Ali. Its straight of the lathe not polished. Its a very nice cup.

Gary,

That looks great. It actually takes a tennis ball load? Amazing.

Gary, I like the shape! I prefer that shape over the Love Cup right next to it. And the name, "Crash Invader." Now, that's a he-man name.
