Carney's routine from Book of Secrets...anyone doing it?

I've been working on this and I was wondering if anyone else had ever learned it. Seems like a pretty straightforward routine...has a few little nuances that I really like that make it a bit different.

Rick… I have read the book but have not tried the routine yet. I know Tom Fenton has the book, maybe he has worked on it.
Good luck,

You got it right Bruce, I have worked on Mr Carney's routine.
I like how straightforward the routine is and how the audience can follow the routine without thinking too hard.
One thing that I don't like is showing the cup to be deeper on the inside than the outside. I really think that this is unneeded.
I like Mr Carney's ideas on magically producing the balls, I agree with him that this is something that seems, in the main, to have been dropped from most people's routines.
Mr Carney seems to have avoided some of the problems with C&B routines by giving very careful thought to routining.
I particularly like the 3 ball vanish towards the end of the routine. This was the first time I had heard of such a thing.
If the routine is studied, there is a lot to be learned about basic magic principles such as routining, attention direction and acting.
Although Mr Carney's routine is a variation on the Vernon routine there is much that is different and I feel that a careful study of Mr Carney's routine will bring ample reward.
In fact, studying Mr Carney's work in general will help any magician regardless of skill or experience levels.
I attended his lecture in Edinburgh last year and to see his work "close-up and in the flesh" is an experience to be savoured.
I think that Mr Carney is an excellent role model, an excellent teacher and a Gentleman.

Ok, so I've been working on this all week. I got to the "vanish of all three balls" at the end, and just couldn't get the move where I was happy with it. I'm working on a different idea: I put the three balls into my hand, and ask if I could make all three balls vanish from my hand and reappear under the cups, would they be amazed? I let them respond and then reply, "I never did learn to do that", and show the balls in my hand. They go into my pocket. I suggest that since I wasn't able to do that, I should do something that is amazing..."I know!" and I tap each cup and the final loads appear.
The cool thing is that I just got the 4th dvd from John's set, Master Sessions, and he actually does the routine on that DVD!!!

Rick,
I have to agree with youabout the 3 ball vanish. I could not get it to my liking either but I never thought of doing what you have done.
That is a very elegant solution.
