I was searching for a place where we could just hop in, say hi, and generally chat.  Let's do that here...

Hi, I am Opie, and I boxes and boxes full of odd cups and balls.....I like to make Chop Cups out of different kinds of bowls, cups, and cans.

Now is the time to check out dollar stores and other places which sell Halloween stuff.  There are all kinds of glasses, cups, and other containers with which to do C&B routines.  Also, there are many skulls, gargoyles, etc., to use as load items.

Yesterday, in Dollar Tree, I found three tiny trash cans in the Bridal supply section.  I plan to use them with some flies and bugs and am looking for a mini-hamburger or other final load item.  (Bill Palmer has a set like that in his museum, and I have been wanting something to use with my roaches....)

So, good morning.....Grab some coffee or tea and just come in and say HI.

Hey Opie! (sounds like something from an old TV show)

I've been eyeing some mini roses at our local Trader Joe's. They come in little 4" galvanized tin flower pots. My wife won't let me buy them once she knew that all I was going to do was ditch the plants and keep the pots.

It seems that the little package of trash cans turned out to be small 2" buckets.  The handle slots were a problem, so I cut them off and put a circle of green electrical tape (also from Dollar Tree) around the top.  Unfortunately also, the buckets are of a ferrous metal, so I cannot use them as Chop Cups....They are kind of neat, however, as I can use them for an Asian Cup and Ball routine.....

Glad to be here.....

PS:  The other Opie has more money than I do, but I have more hair.....tsk tsk...

I always have to plant the plants, and my wife keeps the pots!

Is there any way to give a nudge to all members to come on and just chat with us?

There is so much that we can share, without exposure, if we just chat on a thread; let's chat!!!

I really would like to know what everybody is doing with the Chop Cup.....Are we doomed to just say,
"Is it here?  Where is it?"  Aren't we better than that?

I have several ShareBooks on Chop Cup type routines  (and C&B), and more on the way --
available at no charge to members here if they commit to giving me
feedback.  Go to eversway.com and register for the Appreciation Project.

Then contact me at gusarimagic@comcast.net and tell me of your Cup related interests.

Thanks Ken.....Right now, I am just collecting on-line data on Chop Cups for the workshop syllabus.  Will keep your link and take a look when I have the time read some books on line.

I have a headboard full of books I am trying to read and never seem to read more than a couple of pages per night.....I love the oldies and am presently working through the bound Phoenix Magazines.....One of the early issues of the magazine was a Cups and Balls special.....

Hey Opie… I use the Chop Cup more than I do a set of Cups, I use a routine from the old “Chop Cup Book” that Mark Wilson put out in the late 70’s. It is called the “Multiplication Cup” routine and I like it because it is not the standard… here is the ball, there is the ball routine. It is more like a C&B routine where balls appear, disappear and increase in numbers.

Take care,
Bruce

I saw the Wilson book at Andy Greget's booth at WMS but didn't act quickly enough. By the time I returned to buy it, it was gone.

Thanks Bruce......I have the book somewhere in my stacks of stuff......

I like a single-cup routine more than the multiples cups.

Hi Opie,

I am currently working on a new script for my chop cup routine.
As it progresses I'll keep you posted.
