The SFS dvd, Scoundrel's Touch, has Bob Sheet's Absolutely Nuts included on it.  IMO, Bob Kohler's dvd teaches an excellent commercial starter routine with good patter.  Phil Cass is a master at using psychology in his routine with a really great ending.  The SFS Introduction to the 3 Shell Game goes into additional moves that the other 2 do not include.  The Scoundrel's Touch has the Bob Sheet's information, (a must have), and a lot more advanced material.  If your serious about the shells, I'd get all of them.  You won't be sorry.

Well I just viewed the Phil Cass Pea and Shell Game DVD yesterday and I liked it a lot.
The routine, and in particular, the feint/sucker move and finale that he uses is the Gary Ouellet Super Shells routine, which I know and practice already, but the REAL value in this DVD is his PSYCHOLOGICALLY manipulative routine.
No one presents this effect and states they intend to play for real money and gets away with it, but Phil does and wow is it great. He hooks the audience, makes it terribly exciting, emotional and very very entertaining.
I see why so many have said it's the best routine they have seen. He totally messes with the audience's heads - and it's all because it's played with REAL money.
Bottom line is this DVD barely touches on the mechanics and technical sublties of the three shells (but the SFS DVDs and Bob Kohler's Frank Garcia style routine named the Golden Shells are much more detailed on mechanics and already available), but it is worth its weight in platinum when it comes to the psychology and presentation material that Phil teaches. I definitely learned something about human psychology AND the great word: "reverse-reverse-psychology".

Personally, there is one other thing about the Phil Cass routine that is taught that I really liked. He never once talked down to the audience by stating "Don't ever bet on this game in real life". It's a pet peeve of mine. When I hear performers use the presentation method of "an expose of crooked gambling" or "a warning to never bet on this game" I always feel kind of insulted - like the performer must think I'm a dummy because you don't have to SAY that. Phil never once said such a thing, but I guarantee you that anyone who witnesses his performance will KNOW BETTER than to bet on this game on the street! Which is a very nice relief from the usual magician stating the obvious. Phil lets you draw your own conclusions about the crookedness of the game and the crookedness of himself!
It is wonderful.

Don,

Thanks for the info.

I also have problems with down talking to people. It makes so people think they're stupid, they won't apreciate it.

BTW, on the green room there is a thread about a booklet made by Peter Woerde concerning the shell game. Alot of people like it. The price was something around €15,- /$23,-. Will look into that too.

Well, christmas has come and dear old claus left a present for me under the tree.

I viewed the Bob Kohler and Phil Cass dvd's and WOW. Excellent material on these dvd's, but I need to watch them again for 5 or 6 times before it has all leaked into my mind.

The shells are excellent too, I really like them. They feel great.

I tested drived the mat I got, it's great too. I already had a mat (apollo) but this one (ronjo) feels so much better. It's a black one so that the shells and the pea really pop out.

Congrats Etienne!
That Phil Cass presentation is killer isn't it? No new moves, but the presentation and his psychology is so fun and entertaining it hurts!
I still can't recommend the SFS DVDs enough though. On the Scoundrel's Touch, a two pea system is taught that is just fantastic. There is speculation in discussions on the disc that the game was probably originally done with additional peas so this idea might be old and re-discovered here.
I've got my new script for my routine solidified and I'm rehearsing it for presentation in 2010. It's so much fun, I think it's the best thing I've ever written.

Thanks Don,

Yeah the routine is very fun, the way he gets the parcipant set-up for the finale is excellent.

The SFS dvd's were on my list, they still are but at the moment I sort of postponed it. Have to save some money or wait till my birthday, whatever comes first. Probably the latter.

Thanks all for the input, I am really enjoying myself.
