Hi everyone,
I just have a question, maybe a wrong question but I was wondering how is it possible that this board has 225 members and only 10 guys or so post on a regular basis? Not that I mind talking to them. We want to see some collections.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? I don't know what happens. Maybe they lose interest? It's too bad.

Maybe some are just readers and have no interest in sharing with others. I was that way when I joined the Cafe back in 02. I to would like to see some more member posting.

Well you have hit on a funny little topic. You see it was not that long ago, that we had 75 members. We have been growing at a great rate. We do have a lot of members that pop on here to read only. I do know that some of the members that are here. Only became members to get into the members only areas.
I can not put into words how happy that I am that Bruce, and others have more post then me. Hell, I am very happy that there are members that have spent more time on here then me. I can recall the day I hit 2 days logged in. At that time the average was about 8 hours.
It may seem that we only have a few people doing any posting, but in truth it is due to your post that we have grown. I can not tell you how many times people told me to give up, or hand the ranees over to someone with more resources. I would be kidding myself if I said I never thought about giving it up.
You see, there is a funny thing about Dreams. As much as they may seem to slip away. They will come back stronger when you need them. You see, there is a member on here that needs not to be named. That helped me not with money, or gifts. (As some would think.) It was that person's passion that reminded me of why I wanted to do this. Why I am the Dreaming Madman.
Well CupsCon 2010 is going to happen. It may be small, but hell Rome was not built in a day.
Till next time,
Sean

That's actually the way it is with most forums. About 5% of the members do the posting. The rest lurk.
I will admit that I don't post here as often as I would like to. Someone once told me that the best way to stay busy was to retire. They were right!

Hi , Sorry there is not enough response from the common folk for your web sight, I have responded to numerous posts, and have had no response. I find it ashame that you all revolve your selves around cups and balls, You can recount your membership to 224 becauses there's more to life than C&B. Family,Kids Life,in general. And also, therer's more to MAGIC than cups and balls

Steve, I am not sure who you calling common folk, or who you are directing your comment at. So, I guess I will shoot this one from the hip.
Yes, there is more to magic then Cups and Balls. I work daily on parts of magic that is not Cups or Balls. I just don't talk about that here on the site.
Yes, there is more to life then Cups and Balls. We all know that, and if you read a lot of the topics on here you would see that we talk about life and the things that are happening to us.
I do not think that it is "A Shame" that we revolve ourselves around Cups and Balls. You see, there are TONS of websites out there that talk about every part of life and Magic. If you look at the "Links" list on the left side of this site. You will see a few of them.
This site is about Cups and the love of the magic of cups. That is a big part of the name "CupsCon.com"
Now I too have responded to a lot of post, and I too have not always gotten any response back. You have to understand some people like to just read. I know this because I read a lot on here and other sites. Hell on Big Green, I made my first post after being a member for years. You have to understand that not everyone wants to make a comment. This can be for a lot of reasons. So, I will not go in to them here.
I hope I was able to clear things up. Thank you for your time.
Till next time,
Sean

Steve… Sorry that we have not lived up to your expectations, I know many of us try our best to answer what we can. From those I interact with the most here at CupsCon, I have found that pretty much most are amateur magicians that really don’t have all the answers or technical know how that you have been possibly looking for.
Many feel more comfortable here then over at TMC and I can say that I have made many good friends here. Some of my best conversations have been through PMs, once I have reached out and gotten to know the Cupsters here.
I can understand how you might feel that all we care about is Cups… yes we talk about Cups a lot, but that is the purpose of this site. I know many of the members here and we have families, other interests and yes even do card tricks. Personally speaking, at this point in my magic timeline, I pretty much just like Cups and I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I am glad that Sean has responded to your posting and hope that you stay and have the fun that most of the more vocal members do. If not I can respect your decision and hope that you find a magic site that meets your needs. I have enjoyed what correspondence we have had and I thank you for that.
Best of luck,
Bruce

Steve S,
I might agree with you if this was the only site I visit. It isn't. Sean has done an excellent job building a site for this one facet of magic and I'm glad to be a part of it. Although I seldom post here, I read it every day along with sites about Computers, Website programming, Ukuleles, Hammered and Mountain Dulcimers, Luthiery, Archery, and oh yeah... magic.
And I do have a family, kids, and a life in general. They exist in the real world. I'm just talking about the portion of the day I spend online.

What an interresting thread this turns out to be. I just thought there was a simple answer. I am also sorry if I did miss some post. Normally I will only post if I have something usefull to mention, as I still do on the big green. But somehow it feels different here.

He should go over to the Center Tear and complain that all they talk about is mentalism!
This website (note it is spelled "site" not "sight") is SUPPOSED to be about Cups and Balls for crying out loud...
If I have any complaint about CupsCon, it's that the members too nice. Call the guy a cranky old dope and stop apologizing. Grow a pair of... well you know.
