Can anyone remember the name of Michael Ammar's routine where he used cans instead of cups, and at the end of the routine, he opens a can of small hot dogs? Thanks.

Beenie Weenie, also published by Paul Harris in 1978 as UnCanny in his book Las Vegas Close-Up.

It's a single can of Van Camp's Beenie Weenies with a plastic lid. You invert the can, pop the lid off and drop a ball into your hand. After a quick Chop Cup style routine, you turn the can upright to show it's still sealed with the metal pop top and if you're hungry you proceed to open the can.

The whole thing is a "sucker" chop cup routine using palming and steals to make it look like the ball is going in and out of the can. I probably still have the routine around here somewhere. I think it was published in one of his Magical Arts Journals.

That's it! Thanks Dave and Jay. I couldn't remember the name. I saw him do the routine on TV years ago. I was amazed! Memory gets a little fuzzy, I forgot it was a one cup routine.

Thanks again.

I've often wondered about this routine too.  Can anyone across the big pond please tell me what the heck are "Beenie Weenies?"  There are cans of nuts available in the UK in a suitable size tin, with a ring pull and pop off lid, guess I could use those but I have no idea what BW's are...?

Thanks!

Bri,

"Beenie Weenies?" is a slag term for Beans and Franks. The can they are talking about is a small can of canned franks.

Till next time,

Bri… You are in good company; I did the same thing, going as far as even forgetting I had the book.

Hey guys,

I saw Michael last night in Peabody, MA at a lecture. He told me what all of you know right now. That it is in Encore 3.

He did get a kick out of us talking about that routine. He likes what we are doing here, and when I asked him about maybe coming back to the Northeast next year sometime around last weekend in July and first week in August. He said he would love to come up for cups and balls.

(opps.. did I just let some info slip out of the bag?  Roll Eyes ) Na, I don't think anyone saw that.  Wink

Till next time,

Sean
