Hi guys,

I was wondering what your shortlist looks like, just to see where your interrest lies. Just the top 5.

Here's mine, it's a short-list but will take long to aquire.

1- Van Dokkum standard (stainless steel)
2- Joe Porper (copper)
3- Sherwood smooth (copper)
4- Paul Fox Chick (copper)
5- a set of traditionals, once again in copper

I can't help it, I like the look of copper.

Etienne…

My list would be;
1-   RNT2 Squatty 2 chrome
2-   RNT2 chrome
3-   RNT2 Sisti copper
4-   Sherwood engraved cooper
5-   RNT2 Balls various sizes

I am broke for a while so they will have to remain on the list wish.

Bruce,

I thought that you would have the engraved sherwoods on the number 1 spot?

Etienne… The Sherwood Cups are in a price league that causes me to think about other things I could spend that money on… they are in stereo stuff prices. One day though I will get a set.  #2 should have read RNT2 PF chrome.

You certainly have some worthy Cups on the list.

Actually it isn't a top 5 list, it's more of a top 3 list. Van Dokkum & Porper are on there for quite some time, but they have a very heafty price tag. It will take several years to get them. Actually if I didn't got the cups I bought during the blow-out sale I would have enough just for 1 set. Now I have 4 sets, so I know what you mean. And number 3...well I am still pondering that one. Today it's Sherwood, tomorrow could be the chick cups.

Etienne… I can understand, or a set of old Cups will turn up out of the blue and I will have to jump on those. Tannen’s stubby Cups or Bertram Cups would be cool to have.

It goes without saying that I am a Cup Junkie. I too have a wish list per say.

These are no order. They are just on my list

Paul Fox style (Brass)

Van Dokkum standard

Joe Porper (copper)

Jim Riser (hard to pick just one)

and... the "Taboo" cup {some people know what cup I am talking about} but, I dare not to speak it's name.

Till next time,

Sean

DC James… You definitely have some winners on your list; Engraved Copper Sherwood Cups are on mine. As far as traditional Cups go, the usual suspects are who I would recommend. The RNT2 Traditional Cups are outstanding and if you can find a set of used Riser Traditional Cups you would not be disappointed in those as well. To tell the truth they are so alike that unless you have them side by side, it is difficult to tell them apart.

I have to agree with Bruce. I also have the traditionals of RnT2 on my list. On my long list there is also room for the Harrie Bosco cups, although they are on the light side (from what I have heard).

Ever since I saw some pics of the patinized set of engraved copper Sherwoods I am in doubt.

Thanks Bruce - I was leaning toward the RNT2 Trads because I hear that they are very heavy and stack tightly, both of which were lacking in the majority of traditional sets that I have seen.

Thanks Etienne - I too have thought about ordering the Bosco cups, and heard that they are fairly light which is not something I care for in a set of cups.

You didn't like the photo of the engraved Sherwoods with a patina? That made me want them even more! I thought they looked terrific.  Smiley

DC James… You won’t regret the RNT2 Copper Traditional Cups and yes they are heavy, I am using some felt balls from the Ambitious Card with them… I think that they look more period like. One day I will find some cork balls and make them black from a candle flame and see how they look. I am also very impressed with the looks of the RNT2 Chrome version.

I am also in agreement that the Engraved Copper Sherwood Cups look pretty good with a patina to them.
