Imagine 3 cups, 3 balls and a street-worthy routine that doesn't require you to stack the cups, nest the cups, or use any additional balls; a routine you could do with coffee mugs, or tea cups, or three Fundamental Cups that look innocent yet elegant; that are heavy enough to take a beating and stay mouth down when you put them mouth down.
Let's put a deep dimple in the saddle of those cups so when you rest a ball in the dimple you know it's not going to easily roll off or get blown off in the breeze.
Let's make it large enough to hold a tennis ball.

Coming soon to www.RNT2.com - the JDG Fundamental Cups:

Includes:
3 Fundamental Cups in Copper Mirror Finish
3 1" Green Balls
1 XL Deluxe Velvet Carrying Bag
2 Cloth swatches for cup protection during stacking for transport
1 James Prince / Jamie D Grant Routine

Coming in May 2010.
Price to be announced.

Don,

They look real NICE without the rings!

A lot of times, I don't do any stacking in my routine. No real reason, except that stacking all three for a penetration move is the first thing everybody learns. I guess that's why I stay away from it.

I also like the idea of of the three ball routine.

Way to go, Don!!!

Bri

Bri, this is a sore subject for me. I believe the inside of the cups should be non-reflective and unpolished. When cups come off the lathe, they have burned in greases inside them. If you've ever seen cheaply produced cups with a black grimey interior then you know what I'm talking about. Brass is notorious for this and you will see it in some copper cups too.
So the interior needs cleaned up yes, but it shouldn't be reflective.
I'll tell you that I use a simple glass beading process to "blast" all the grime out of the inside of the cups and that process leave the interior a flat, matte, non-reflective finish. It's raw copper and can be restored to new condition, cleaned up, with any copper cleaner (but not a polish), like a vinegar and salt solution or Wright's Copper Cream. It will turn a patina in time if you just leave it alone too.

I got tired of flashing the color of the balls off the inside walls of the cup when the cup is mouth up. In my routine, I do Aldo Colombini's cup toss and the audience doesn't realize that there is a ball inside the cup when it is tossed end over end from hand to hand - unless the color of the ball flashes off the inside of a shiny cup interior. I saw it myself on video. With this inside finish, that doesn't happen anymore.

So guys that don't like this inside finish are missing the point. For me, the point is this: Finish the cup, clean the interior to a raw unblemished surface. And assist with the illusion at the same time! It's just one less thing to worry about during a stressful or risky routine.

Oh, it's also less expensive to do this finish than to try to polish the interior of the cup so it brings the price down.

Wow…. I go out of town and come back to all kinds of postings. Don, these Cups look fantastic! The saddle looks like a Princess or Don Allan top.

I like Br, I too like how you finish the inside of the Cups, and the Workers Cup I purchased a while back has now become my go to CC. Also those parakeet colored balls work and look great with it.

Maybe a bit off-topic. But I just visited James Riser's website, is there a rage going on that I missed? Cups with no side beads??

They look pretty nice with no side beads! They still stack, and I'll bet they don't stick unless you jam them together.
I hope Eddie sees James Riser's site. He always liked cups without beads.

Did you see the other items he has, like the "Riser Accent Lamps"? Nice lampshade!

Etienne…  Yes all the cool kids have gone beadless, it has gone viral on youtube.

How have you been… are you still busy with work?

Actually, I don't know what to think about them. They look funny, perhaps I will think otherwise when handled a set.

Yes Bruce, work is hectic and busy. I am beat when I arrive at home. Just a few more months and the pressure will be off. How are things going on your side?

Have a good weekend.

Donnie,

Funny you should mention "Cloth swatches for cup protection during stacking for transport". That's the first thing I did when your Paul Fox mini cups were delivered to me. I used 2 black 6 inch silks to sandwich between the cups before I place them in the velvet bag for transport. Now the silks are just left in the bag permanently when the cups are out for display or use. Some things just seem the logical thing to do, even for old bags like me!  Shocked)

I love my RNT II cups!!!   (and I want more!!!)

Etienne… All is well, I will send you a PM to catch up with you; if you do not hear from me by SUN it means that I have not gotten the home PC working… the kids did a number on it. I am just running out of the office, it’s the weekend!
