I can do a Strike Vanish in my sleep...

WWW
« on: June 28, 2008, 10:16:13 PM »

I don't know if anyone reads these forums anymore, but it's worth a shot.

I have been browsing around here and the Cafe for quite some time trying to get advice on what cups I should get. But unfortunately I can't register with the Cafe because of email restrictions. So I figured why not ask here.

Right now I have a set of copper Udays and have been using them thus far for practicing and performing. They have enabled me to practice my routine, but they just don't perform well. They are very light, and wobble a lot when nested. I would not consider myself a complete beginner with C&B but somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I would love to advance in the C&B, but I really need a new set that can take bigger loads and perform better. The problem is I can't afford any "expensive" sets (ie: Johnson, Phoenix, RNTII) so I need to find something in my price range (<$70) that would help me in taking that step toward improvement. I don't mind seconds or used cups, anything is better than what I have now.

All help is greatly appreciated!

I cannot even make a set of cups for 70 bucks. As for wobble I like loose cups as the good fits will jam after just a few weeks work. That said i'm in the minority on the wobble . So I make good fitting and loose fitting cups. I'll be Ebaying a few sets of seconds soon so you might get lucky.
What is your final load going to be.

When I say wobble, I mean that they are so loose that they tilt to one side when nested. And it's not because they are loose, but because they just weren't made right.

Final load - tennis balls.

I'd really like to know where you found PF cups for under $70.

I'd have had them for that. That was a very good buy.

I just received the cups in the mail today, and I think I am addicted. Grin

Here are some pictures. I was thinking of not polishing them at all and leaving them with that antique look, because frankly I think it looks and feels awesome. What would you do?

Patina, do not remove the patina!

A little of Jake's soul is in that patina. As you practice with them, it will add to the magic in the cups.

Hey, Ayli, I never try to be envious, but...oh, you are SO lucky! Good on you. And good on Jake! Generous beyond measure, sir...

I'd love a set of Fox copper cups. I'm on the lookout always. Maybe I'm an eternal optimist, but I'm hopeful a set will turn up soon...

I was going to say that if you clean those cups I will personally show up at your door and teach you a lesson. . . then I saw you live in Elizabeth. . . never mind.

Great cups, though.  Jake is the best.
